pkg-config

1. pkg-config is a tool used when compiling applications and libraries. 2. It helps insert the correct compiler options on the command line. 3. It is language-agnostic and can be used for defining the location of documentation tools. 4. The program is free software and licensed under the GPL version 2 or any later version. 5. pkg-config works on multiple platforms, including Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows. 6. It does not require anything but a working C compiler and library but can use installed glib. 7. The first implementation was written in shell by James Henstridge and later rewritten in C by Havoc Pennington. 8. pkg-config is currently maintained by Tollef Fog Heen and Dan Nicholson, and the current release is version 0.29.2.
