ETHTallinn Wrap-Up

The biggest Web3 hackathon in the Baltics made its comeback at ETHTallinn, and the event's success exceeded expectations with 200+ participants and $37k in prizes offered. The gathering marked the first Web3 hackathon in the region since 2017, and the tea protocol team was thrilled to attend and contribute.

tea was proud to sponsor ETHTallinn, supporting the event's vision of fostering innovation in the Web3 space. At the event, tea was not only a sponsor but also an active participant. Our contributions came in various forms, including sponsorship of the coffee and tea area, ensuring that hackers remained energized throughout the weekend with custom-branded green tea bags.

We also provided a $1,000 bounty for the best projects, which spurred submissions from over 20 hackers. Two standout projects emerged victorious:

  • Peer: This project claimed the first-place prize by creating a peer-to-peer platform for exchanging goods and services, which could potentially transform how we share resources. You can explore their work in more detail here.
  • Staker: The second-place project abstracts away blockchain challenges and automates the full workflow of employee benefit management schemes. Learn more about Staker here.

Our founder, Max Howell, also delivered a virtual talk titled "Joining the Open Source Economy with tea Protocol," highlighting how tea fosters open-source projects and supports the broader Web3 ecosystem. This talk will be available on YouTube soon.

ETHTallinn's Impact:

The event brought together over 200 attendees, fostering collaboration and innovation within the Web3 space. By bringing developers and enthusiasts together, ETHTallinn provided a platform to create, learn, and grow, enriching the Web3 ecosystem.

Why This Matters:

  1. Events like ETHTallinn advance Web3 by offering a platform for developers to collaborate and innovate.
  2. Hackathons demystify Web3, making it accessible to a wider audience and encouraging more contributors.
  3. Hackathons incentivize developers to contribute to open-source projects, further enriching the Web3 ecosystem.

tea remains committed to supporting innovation in the Web3 space. We'll be attending several upcoming events, including ETHBerlin, ETHCC, Token 2049 Singapore, and potentially Devcon, continuing our mission to promote innovation and collaboration in the Web3 ecosystem. See you soon!
